Spun Polyester

Spun Polyester

Spun polyester is what you get when polyester staple fibers are twisted into yarn and woven like cotton. Same looms. Different raw material. Higher strength. Better chemical resistance. Doesn’t absorb water the way cotton does. If you need something that holds up where cotton falls apart, this might be your fabric.

Cotton is our first language. Polyester is a dialect we’ve picked up over the years. We run a handful of spun polyester constructions for customers in rubber, filtration, construction, and bag-making. They don’t always explain what the fabric does. We’ve stopped asking. The specs speak for themselves.

Below are the constructions we keep in rotation. If you need something different, we’re listening. If your spec is already dialed in, we’ll match it.

What We Run

  • 100% Spun Polyester, 12/2 Ring Spun, 30 x 30

  • 100% Spun Polyester, 10/2 Ring Spun, 21 x 21

  • 100% Spun Polyester, 6/2 Ring Spun, 21 x 21

  • 100% Spun Polyester, 8/4 Ring Spun, 18 x 18

  • 100% Spun Polyester, #10 Duck — bags, construction, and anything that needs a synthetic workhorse

  • 100% Polyester Sateen — for filtration.  12’s x 12’s, 96×54 – 9.3 oz/sq.yd, Air perm: 22 CFM.

Don’t see your construction? We’ll find it. We’ll run it. We’ll ship it.

MJS Spun Polyester

MJS stands for Murata Jet Spinner. It's an air-jet spinning technology from Japan. There are only a handful of mills in India that can do MJS polyester fibers. We partner with one of them. A vertical mill. They spin the yarn. Weave the fabric. Finish it. All under one roof.

The yarn is different from ring-spun. Parallel fibers in the core. Wrapper fibers on the surface. The result is softer, more absorbent, and less prone to pilling than standard spun polyester. It feels closer to cotton. It behaves better over time.

A word of caution: some suppliers claim to offer MJS but are actually selling MVS — Murata Vortex Spun. They're not the same. MJS has superior absorbency. MVS doesn't. That's a fact worth knowing before you order.

We carry one MJS construction. It's a good one.
